### 1. What faan are

- Faan are scoring points. You count them only when you win.
- Each scoring part of your hand adds faan.
- Add them all up. You need at least 3 to win.
- There's a top score, called the limit. In our game it's 10 faan.
- More faan means a bigger payment.

### 2. Dragon pungs

A pung or kong of any dragon scores 1 faan.

- 1 faan: Red Dragon, Red Dragon, Red Dragon
- 1 faan: Green Dragon, Green Dragon, Green Dragon
- 1 faan (A kong counts the same): White Dragon, White Dragon, White Dragon, White Dragon

### 3. Wind pungs

Your seat wind is your seat's wind. Each round has a wind too. The game starts in the East round.

- 1 faan (Your seat wind): South, South, South
- 1 faan (The round's wind): East, East, East
- 2 faan (Both: you're East in the East round): East, East, East
- 0 faan (Any other wind): North, North, North

### 4. Hand shapes

The kind of sets and suits in your hand can score.

- 1 faan (All chows: 4 chows and a pair)
- 3 faan (All pungs: 4 pungs or kongs and a pair)
- 3 faan (Mixed one suit: one suit plus honors)
- 7 faan (Pure one suit: all one suit, no honors)

### 5. How you win

- Self-drawn: you drew the winning tile. 1 faan.
- Concealed hand: you called no tiles before your winning tile. 1 faan.
- Winning on the last tile drawn or thrown before the hand ends: 1 faan.
- Winning on the extra tile after a kong: 1 faan.
- Robbing a kong: 1 faan.

### 6. Bonus tiles

Numbers match seats: 1 East, 2 South, 3 West, 4 North. Say you sit South.

- 1 faan each (Flower 2 and Season 2 match your seat): Flower 2, Season 2
- 0 faan (Flower 4 doesn't match): Flower 4
- 2 faan (All 4 flowers, or all 4 seasons. This replaces the 1 for your own.): Flower 1, Flower 2, Flower 3, Flower 4
- 1 faan (No flowers or seasons at all)
